Corners of my home: Living room

I'm starting a new feature on the blog called Corners of My Home. I love home tours on blogs and I'd like to give you one, but my house is never tidy enough, so I thought I'd just do corners. It's easier to clear all the junk out of a corner! I have kind of got redecorating on my mind, as we are hopeful that this will be the year our earthquake damage to the house is repaired. So you never know, maybe some time the house will be cleaned out and painted and tidy enough to show. In the meantime, this is a corner in my living room, or as we call it, the lounge.

In Timaru there is an amazing Salvation Army op shop where I always score lots of good things. Most recently it was this beautiful tapestry panel. All I had to do was sew it into a cushion. It's sitting on my hexagon quilt blanket, which I still work on sporadically. Over the back of the couch is a panel destined to become another cushion - see the heart pattern? I'll tell you more about that at a later date.

It's January, so it must be time to pick buds from the Cecile Brunner rose and put them in my bubble vase. This little posy looks cute anywhere, whether it's the lounge or the bathroom counter or my bedside table.

Hope you enjoyed this little peek into my home. More soon!

  1. i like the idea of a 'corner of my home' project, most of our rooms are a succession of corners and nooks rather than having an overall plan. Yours is a beautiful, summer-cosy look. i love the little blue table especially, and i would like to know more about the heart rug.
i am mad for pink roses in blue jars (am ploting an op-shop show-off on that very topic) and love the shape of your vase.
great to have you link-ied up x

    1. Yes, my house has a lot of corners too, and it's much easier to tidy up a corner than the whole room. The little blue table was an op shop find too! I'll certainly be able to link to Op Show Show Off again...

  2. what a great idea doing ''corners of my home'' - something i think people share far to much of their homes (although i wont complain, cos i love looking at homes!!).
lovely colours in your corner, and the roses looks lovely. my mother grows alot of roses, so i have fresh roses in my room through out my stay.

    1. I love looking at other people's homes too as long as they're tidy! That's why I don't often have pictures of mine to share. Fresh roses are gorgeous aren't they, especially scented ones.

  3. So far, from what I can see, your home is just lovely! That patchwork blanket is stunning and the greenest of green plants just make me smile! Lovely blog by the way.

    1. Thanks so much, I love indoor plants almost as much as outdoor ones. Funnily enough it's harder to keep them alive in summer. I think they dry out faster than I realise.

  4. Love how you are only offering a corner of your home - such a real honest way to connect - it is just too much pressure to expect a spotless home for shoots everyday. I like your style!
